Join Our Team - Service Advisor

If you’d like to work in a friendly team and enjoy providing a positive customer experience, Hare's Garage in Bedale could be the ideal place for you.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Service Advisor to join our flexible, forward-thinking business for three full days per week. The ideal candidate will excel at building excellent rapport with customers and have experience of working as a service advisor in an automotive environment. As our Service Advisor, you will be the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs are met while providing exceptional service and support throughout their experience.

We offer a host of benefits, including flexible working, free breakfast, a comfortable working environment and continuous training and development. As part of our team, we’ll also help you to shape your career and your future the way that you’d like it to be.

Who are you?

  • You are an experienced service advisor who has worked in and has strong knowledge of the automotive industry.
  • You are customer-focused and take time to get to know customers and build friendly, professional relationships with them. You know how to ensure that customers feel satisfied and valued.
  • You have experience in pricing up work and seeking customer approval. This includes working with customers to prioritise and plan where budget might be an issue.
  • You have experience in ordering and returning parts, as well as sorting parts out so that they are ready for the technicians.
  • You have experience in carrying out general administrative tasks, including filing, keeping accurate documentation of service tasks and records, routine bookkeeping tasks, taking payments and taking photographs for social media.
  • You work hard and take pride in your work, paying attention to accuracy and detail whilst also working at speed. You get a job done and you do it well.
  • You are well-organised and methodical, and you can respond quickly and effectively to frequently changing priorities.
  • You are friendly, honest, polite, and reliable. You enjoy working as part of a small team but can work effectively on your own too.
  • You can listen to and understand customers’ needs and explain issues in a way that is easy to understand. Not only that, but you will be able to listen to hear and hear the things that aren’t always said in words, for example, through body language or tone of voice.
  • You have strong verbal and written English skills and are personable, professional and friendly, both in person and over the phone. You can take technical information and convey it to customers in a manner that is easy to understand.
  • You will be open to change and will bring your knowledge and experience to suggest ideas for change and improvement as we grow (and be patient as we chip away at implementing them!)
  • Experience in using MAM Autowork would be ideal but is not essential.
  • You must have a full, clean, current driving license as you will be required to drive customers’ vehicles as needed.
  • You will be happy to chip in with other jobs that crop up, for example helping to tidy up in the workshop from time to time or assisting a technician with jobs where an extra pair of hands is needed e.g. visually checking bulbs are working, pressing a brake pedal during a brake bleed, pulling on a handbrake so operation can be checked.
  • You will be happy to occasionally work some additional hours to provide holiday cover. All of this will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.

In return, we offer:

  • A salary of between £27,000 – £32,000 FTE, dependent on experience.
  • A workplace pension scheme.
  • A friendly, forward-thinking place to work.
  • Free breakfast, with a good selection of cereal, toast and fruit, is available every day. We also often have extra treats, such a cooked breakfasts or lunch from the local pub.
  • Your safety is important to us, and full uniform and PPE are provided to all team members.
  • We love a day out and our recent trips include the Autosport Show and a visit to Croft for the BTCC, including hospitality.
  • A quiet, village location that is only a short drive from the A1. You’ll work with beautiful surroundings, but that is easily and quickly accessible from miles around.
  • Up-to-date tools and technology. We continually invest in and renew our equipment, so all our technology is kept up to date.
  • We offer access to an excellent training and development package. We have access to a wide range of industry-leading training courses. What do you want to learn? Where do you want your career to go next? Let’s make it happen!

We are open from Monday to Friday between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm and close every weekend. Salary and benefits are negotiable and will be dependent on experience. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements and creating an overall package that works well for you.
